LASPD PARTICIPATES IN THE 29TH ANNUAL NATIONAL NIGHT OUT

Los Angeles School Police Department (LASPD) joined nearly 47 million residence across the United States in participating in the 29th Annual National Night Out, under the leadership of Chief Steven Zipperman.

On Tuesday, August 7, 2012, LASPD, along with Herb J. Wesson, Jr., President, Los Angeles City Council, Councilmember, 10th District, Rebecca Bernal, Field Representative, to State Senator Curren D. Price Jr., 26th District, of the California Legislature, Dr. Gail Greer, Principal, Mid-City Prescott School for Enriced Sciences, Harold Boger, Principal of Los Angeles Center for Enriched Studies, Friends of Safe Schools Los Angeles (FOSSLA), Friends of LACES, parents, students, teachers, staff, and administrators along with the community joined in unity and solidarity, to take a stand against crime in our schools and neighborhoods.

The event included food, entertainment, face painting, college recruitment, LASPD PAL/Explorer exhibit and recruitment, display/traffic safety education and awareness from LASPD Motors, LASPD K9 Handler, anti-bullying information, a display from Daniel Puder, My Life My Power, and Tips from LAPD Wilshire Division on how to protect valuables.

This fun filled event concluded with a walk through the neighborhood as local residence not only waved but, joined in on the march. This event is the Department’s largest community event. 

As we prepare to start a new school year, LASPD asks that neighbors and parents keep a watchful eye over children traveling to and from school to create safe passages.
