Los Angeles School Police Department’s Traffic Safety Education Awareness

Los Angeles School Police Department (LASPD) would like to raise the level of awareness of all motorists operating a motor vehicle around schools.

It is imperative we remain alert to children and pedestrians crossing the street and obey the Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT) Crossing Guard.

Note: When the school crossing guard enters a roadway displaying a “STOP” sign, all vehicle operators are required to stop and wait until all pedestrians, to include the crossing guard, have cleared the roadway.

Additionally, it is equally important that we obey the posted speed limit for school zones which is 25 mph when kids are present. The safety of our children on public streets and near schools is the responsibility of parents, school officials, and local law enforcement.

LASPD encoureges everyone to spread the word and help raise the level of awareness while reducing traffic-related collisions, injuries, and death.
