THE LA DODGERS HIT A HOME RUN WITH LAUSD STUDENTS!
Gates ES is one of five LAUSD schools visited by the Dodgers in their back-to-school caravan! In all, The Dodgers Dream Foundation and A Foundation for Kids gave our students more than 4000 drawstring backpacks filled with school supplies. Many of the backpacks were handed out by the baseball players themselves! Students, teachers, and parents were thrilled with the gifts and the celebrity visits to their campuses. School Board President Monica Garcia was on hand cheering on this wonderful collaboration between the Dodgers and LAUSD.
Recognize any of these baseball players? Our students and parents sure did! They all clamored not only to get the new backpacks but to get photos with Dodger Clayton Kershaw, Pitcher Shawn Tolleson and Dodger legend and Spanish-language broadcaster Fernando Valenzuela!
