Three families received Xbox 360 systems and educational software for participating in the Los Angeles Unified School District Family Summit in May. The anticipation grew stronger as both students and parents arrived for their rewards. Board President Mónica García warmly greeted the parents, and thanked them for attending the summit, which helps families prepare for understanding college and career options.
Maria Casillas, Chief of School, Family and Parent/Community Services praised the parents for their participation and hoped this event opens further discussion on college choices and assistance available for potential students.  “I am thankful to have the support and enthusiasm of Board President Mónica García, Superintendent John Deasy, Celeste Alleyne with Microsoft and all of our team members.”
Dr. Deasy acknowledged the dedication from everyone involved to “get students ready for work and ready for college”. He knows that these tools will help the whole family and knows he will see even the youngest child succeed.
Jessica Cadenas, Angela Velasquez and Crystal Corado were presented with their prizes by Celeste Alleyne with Microsoft. “We love your students,” she said. “We want to support your students.”
Ms. Casillas encouraged parents to continue supporting their children and to spread the word about next year’s family summit.
