Students at 186th Street Elementary School Honored at Gardena City Council Meeting

Rene and Rachelle Rosiles were asked to lead the flag salute at the Gardena City Council Meeting on Tuesday, September 25, 2012.  The girls, along with their parents, teacher, and principal were treated to a wonderful surprise.  They had a chance to meet Carmelita Jeter, an Olympic Gold Medalist, one of the fastest women in the world, and a native of the Gardena community.

Carmelita Jeter also graduated from California State University, Dominguez Hills and fondly remembers running up and down the streets of Gardena.  Ms. Jeter, also known as “The Jet” was being honored by the Gardena City Council Members and Assemblyman Steven Bradford for her outstanding accomplishments.  It was a special moment for the 4th and 5th grade sisters who were selected to represent the Wise Owl Nation because they are soaring academically, artistically, and peacefully.
